Jordan Has No Virtue

This is some new video from the 21st Saloon open mic (pril's jam) in Omaha, Nebraska. There's some awesome musicians there who can keep up even on songs they don't know. This particular song is kind of a special one, it's also fairly new. Poke around the YouTube some- there's a lot of stuff up there, live recordings from that scene, some of them are covers or previously unreleased material (like this).

The creative process has been going kind of slow. There was a period of about 4 months after Nebraska (where I recorded "Noise From The Basement") in which I wrote nothing and focused on doing production work for other people. One of those projects was released, the other was squashed.

Then I went to Brazil. I wrote 3 songs. One of them has been played out a couple times. One has never been played.

Basically though, I'm sitting on an album's worth at least of material that goes back 1 1/2 years, has a lot of different subject matter, and is really strong.

I'm going to try and record it this year. I was going to do a GoFundMe to try and get recording gear to do it, but I think I might just buy it, or possibly even go into an actual studio. Not sure yet how to do this, only that I need to. Expect some of it to possibly release sooner too. Anyway I wanted to update this for the few people who may still check this site that yes, I'm still out here, and yes, I'm still doing music.

Noise From The Basement (2015)

In the summer of 2015, I recorded a series of videos. Live recordings done in the basement of the house we were renting in Blair, Nebraska. It was basically a handycam on a tripod, no special mics or anything, and a clip light.

Some of the songs (Willow Jane, Richer than Me, Miranda) were previously unreleased, while some (Stranger Things, the Lepers and My Lord, I Lose Control) were alternate arrangements involving harmonica or different tunings.

It turned out pretty well. Well enough for me to let it go and put it out there.

If you wish to download it, you can get it here. Enjoy the music!

Neutral Ground solo show, Dec 27, 2013, New Orleans

Solo show at Neutral Ground Coffeehouse in New Orleans. I was down there for a friends wedding and wanted to play music while I was down there. Thank you to Lynn Magnusson for video production and percussion.

Peripheral (live at Music on Pentecost 2013 with Sarah Brafford)

Peter Dickson and Sarah Brafford perform "Peripheral" live at Music on Pentecost in downtown Hohenwald, Tennessee on May 19, 2013. "Peripheral" will be featured on the upcoming album, Songs From Nowhere: Volume Three, which will be released sometime this summer.

Audio from Zack McCarter (with Peter Dickson) show at Preservation Pub in Knoxville, TN, 012413

This is audio from a show I played with Zack McCarter at the Preservation Pub in Knoxville, TN, on January 24, 2013. The video starts out with audio of the person who was on before us: Grant Waldorf aka Reverie 7 playing "Wish You Were Here." After that, our set starts- it's 45 minutes of Zack's music with me on lead guitar, and then at the end we switched roles and he played lead (and sang harmony on part of "Stranger Things" !) Really solid set. Great songs (Zack is one of the best songwriters I know, probably the best). Worth listening to. It will happen again!

When the Moon Fell (live at Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville)

Me playing my original "When the Moon Fell" live at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. One of the darkest and most redemptive songs I've ever done, at one of the most famous open mics ever. Not that that matters. It was still an open mic. Some amazing musicians there, people my age who are far more talented than I will ever be. But I think that what I am trying to do musically and lyrically was dramatically different from the others, and that it stood out. Especially since I performed last and closed the night. Who knows.
